Hurricane impact windows

Hurricane impact windows that protect your home year-round

Impact windows guard your home against storms and break-ins, quiet the street outside and help keep the air conditioning where it belongs. We serve homeowners across South Florida with free estimates.

Always-on storm protection

Impact glass is already in place, so there are no panels to hang when a storm is on the way.

A tougher barrier for intruders

Laminated glass holds together when struck, which makes forced entry through a window much harder.

Efficiency you can feel

Low-E glass options help reduce heat and UV coming through, which can ease the load on your A/C.

Quieter rooms

The glass and tight frames help cut down traffic, airplane and neighborhood noise.

What makes a window an impact window

An impact window uses laminated glass: two layers of glass bonded to a tough interlayer. If something strikes it and the glass cracks, the pieces stay stuck to the interlayer instead of flying into the room. The frame is built and anchored to work with that glass as one system.

That is why impact windows can replace hurricane shutters. Your openings are protected all the time, not just when you have a few days of warning. If you are weighing the two approaches, our guide to impact windows vs. hurricane shutters compares them in plain English.

Built for Florida codes

Windows installed in Florida must be approved for the Florida Building Code. In Miami-Dade and Broward counties, part of the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), products need approvals such as a Miami-Dade NOA. Elsewhere in the state, products carry a Florida Product Approval. We will explain which requirements apply to your property during your estimate.

Replacement windows usually require a building permit and inspections. We will explain the permit and inspection steps for your property, and our guide to the permit and installation process in Florida shows what to expect.

Insurance, energy and everyday comfort

Florida insurers are required to offer windstorm mitigation credits, and a wind mitigation inspection documents the opening protection on your home. Impact windows may qualify you for savings, so ask your insurance agent how they apply to your policy.

Day to day, you also get low-E glass options, UV filtering and a noticeable drop in outside noise. Condo and HOA owners should expect an approval step, and we can help you gather what the board asks for.

What to expect at your estimate

We will look at each opening, note its size and condition, and talk with you about which window styles make sense room by room. Bring your questions about glass options, appearance and any HOA or condo rules. Photos of the openings you have in mind help us prepare, and you can send them when you contact us.
